The 2013 Chevy Sonic RS

The Chevy Sonic was Chevrolet’s answer to be bulbous and unattractive Aveo that needed to go. The Sonic has been through a massive marketing campaign in order for Chevrolet to attract more youthful buyers and commuters to the company. Now we are starting to see Chevrolet adding special edition Sonic’s in order to bring in more niche-based buyers. Chevrolet is looking to introduce the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS which will be similar to the other Sonics as the vehicle will offer the Turbo 1.4 L that is an optional engine choice currently. The vehicles main changes looks to be through small design changes in the exterior and interior of the vehicle. The changes put Sonic RS 2013 will include a slightly redesigned front fascia that includes fog lights standard and will offer a model specific grill design. Vehicle will also have a change in the rear fascia and rocker moldings and will have a rear spoiler standard. The mechanical and component changes will include a more sporty sounding exhaust system as well as RS Sonic specific 17 inch wheels. Chevrolet also wants to improve upon the already impressive handling characteristics by adding lowering suspension springs as well as dampers that are more performance-based.

With new features as well as 138 hp with a broad torque curve coming from the 1.4 L should make this vehicle a lot more fun to drive around then the current Sonic. The transmission of Sonic RS will be either a manual six-speed or automatic that Chevrolet says will gear differently for the RS. This is at least the powertrain that Chevy introduced at the Detroit auto show. But several of us auto enthusiast are still kissing our good luck charms in hopes that Chevrolet will go ahead and place the 2.0 L Turbo in the vehicle but the likes of that happening are pretty slim. But either engine they choose should make the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS a fun drive.

It looks like the Chevrolet Sonic RS 2013 will have a few design changes and the interior as well. It looks like Chevrolet will give the standard seats the boot in place in some more driver enthusiast friendly sports seats that offer more support. The 2013 RS will also include a few different designs and the steering will such as a thicker rim and sport inspired buttons it with the manual transmission you get a different shift knob. You also see different design cues such as an instrument panel trim inserts that will distinguish the car as the RS even more so. But bottom line is that this should make for a fun drive and possibly a future for tuning companies to produce more horsepower making these 2013 Chevy Sonic RS a little rocket.
