Gazoo Builds Twin-Charged Toyota GT86 Sports FR Concept

If you are an owner of either Toyota GT86, Scion FR- S or Subaru BRZ, you may be complaining about the vehicles’ worse performance just like the other automotive enthusiasts.

However, no one of the three automakers has an idea to solve these problems. Yet, don’t worry since Toyota’s motorsports partner namely Gazoo Racing has a briliant plan to address the matters. Gazoo Racing’s idea is presented in its new concept version of the European market GT86 Sports FR.

In order to improve the vehicle’s power, the engineers of Gazoo Racing had already equipped the GT86 with a supercharger and a turbocharger, 2.0 liter flat four cylinder. The unit is able to churn out a total power from 200 horses to 315 ponies or 320 PS and from 205 Nm or 151 lb- ft to 421 or 310 lb- ft of peak torque. the flat four then mated to a revamped six- speed manual gearbox that transfers the power into rear wheels.

The tuning is continued with a developed, wider body aero kit that covers new front and rear fenders and bumpers with matching side skirts and a large rear wing. The vehicle is now riding on 18-inch alloy wheels mounted in 245/40 tires front and 265/35 rear. The rear- wheel drive sports coupe also has been completed with updated brakes and suspension.

Moving inside the car, we will notice the new racing steering wheel is now available with no airbag. The japanese tuning house also has equipped the car with new gauges, a couple of racing bucket seats up front and the removal of the rear seat bench plus the extra of a roll cage.

Although the GT86 Sports FR gets alot of changes, the car’s weight has only improved by nearly 30 kilos or 66 lbs for a total weight of 1,280 kilos or 2,280 lbs.

Gazoo Racing has not said any sentence yet whether it will take the concept for production or not, but the company has already introduced limited edition production versions of its concepts, the GRMN Toyota Yaris 180hp for example.

The GT86 Sports FR Concept will have its global debut on the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance race this weekend.
