No one suspects that General Motor will unveil the new model of the Buick Verano
so early. Yet, the fact says that yesterday GM has already made a surprising
presentation of the Verano which not only brings more powerful turbocharged
engine but also presents a manual transmission for the buyers as optional
feature on the car for the very first time.
From the outside, the new 2013 Buick Verano appears identical to the regular
180 hp Verano except its T logo, the dual exhaust outlets and a hardly visible
decklid spoiler. In case of performance, compared to the 270 horses Regal GS,
the Verano is indeed faster.
The top model in the Buick Verano range will be empowered by a 2.0-liter
turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine combined with a direct injection and
continuously variable valve timing that helps the unit to deliver a total output
of 250 horses at 5,300 rpm and 260 lb- ft or equal to 353 Nm of peak torque at
2000 rpm. The company claimed that nearly almost 90 per cent of the Verano
Turbo’s peak torque is reached between 1,700 rpm to about 5,500 rpm.
The company also stated that to sprint form standstill to 60 rpm, the new
Buick Verano Turbo needs 6.2 seconds sprint time. It means that the new Verano
Turbo is faster by half a second compared to that of the 270 horses Buick Regal
GS. The 2.0 liter unit is coupled to either a six- speed automatic transmission
or a six speed manual gearbox.
Unfortunately, the company has not said a single word yet about the fuel
economy numbers will be figured by the new Verano Turbo yet. However, General
Motor stated that the Verano Turbo is predicted to figure the same fuel economy
as other Buick’s turbocharged models.
So far, GM is also still sealing its lips about the pricing of the new Buick
Verano Turbo. However it may be unveiled closer to the production date in late
2012, so stay tune.
