The iPhone 5 Might Look Like This

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be coming later this year, with an official announcement expected in June around Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).
Based on some of the latest rumors regarding the phone and what we can expect, one artist, Jon Fawcett, created some concept pictures of what he thinks Apple's newest iPhone will look like when it hits store shelves.
[More from Mashable: Answer Your Phone While Skiing With These Neva Ski Poles

Rumor has it that the next version of the iPhone will be made of LiquidMetal. A mix of several different metals, LiquidMetal could allow the phone to be more durable. Light like plastic but durable like aluminum, it would also allow the phone to weigh less and have a thinner profile.

Measuring at 4.14" x 2.25", Fawcett's concept phone is just 7mm thick and has a 4-inch widescreen multitouch display. The phone has a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel forward-facing cam for video chatting, and quad speakers for listening to tunes or watching videos in both portrait and landscape mode.

Fawcett isn't affiliated with Apple in any way, and doesn't really know what the newest version of the phone will look like -- the pictures, however, are pretty impressive and can offer a glimpse at what might potentially be in store for us later this year.

Beyond aesthetics, the newest iPhone is also rumored to have updated specs under the hood, including a faster processor and NFC capabilities.
Check out the gallery below for a look at the concept iPhone 5. Do you think Apple's next iPhone will look like this?

Sony releases the international version of Xperia ion in Taiwan

The Xperia ion for the US shouldn't be far away now, as Sony just announced  in Taiwan the launch of its international version - without AT&T's LTE frequencies, of course.
The handset is pretty sleek as far as looks are concerned, yet different from the new NXT design of Sony by lacking the illuminated strip that characterizes the Xperia S, for example.
It has just four capacitive keys underneath the 4.6" display for navigation instead. The handset is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3, has 1GB of RAM and a 12MP camera with LED flash. Rumors peg the American version release for May, so it shouldn't be long before we take

New Samsung Galaxy S III leaks provide conflicting specs

The Samsung Galaxy S III is easily the hottest upcoming Android device, and the leaks continue to flow out at an amazing pace. Part of me thinks all these leaks are controlled to keep generating buzz, but we keep sharing them and y’all keep eating them up. This week we saw a trio of leaks that provide several conflicting specs.

Last night Samsung announced the 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 Quad, that is said to power the next Galaxy. We think there is a good chance that this will be the final processor found inside the Galaxy S III, but that could vary by region and carrier.

Yesterday we saw a leaked benchmark result that said the Galaxy S III was using the Exynos 4212 processor. This chip features dual Cortex-A9 CPU cores running at 1.5 GHz. Another leaked service manual for the GT-i9300 (that we believe to be the Galaxy S III) said the device would use a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU.

The leaked benchmark said the device would feature a 4.7 inch display, while the leaked manual said it would be 4.8 inches, and other leaks have showed a 4.6 inch display. Camera specs have also been conflicted. One leak shows 8 megapixels and another shows 12 megapixels.

All these leaks have proven is that there are multiple versions of the device in testing and each one features slightly different specs. There’s even a good chance that all these leaks are wrong, and the final specs will be something completely different.

Samsung’s big unveil is scheduled for May 3rd, so hopefully all your questions will be answered soon.

Samsung Gusto 2 review: This flip phone gets a lot right

Samsung's Gusto 2 reboot is one argument in favor of second chances.

I know what you're thinking: how hard is it to mess up a simple flip phone?

Stop your smirking! It's easier than you think! Just look to the original Gusto with its cheap body and bad call quality.

With the Samsung Gusto 2 for Verizon, Samsung has turned around most of the original's wrongs. This update feels sturdy and strong, gave me great call quality, and offers accessibility and other features that go deeper than on other simple phones.

There are still some issues and annoyances, but overall, the Gusto 2 gets the recipe right. It'll cost $79.99 right off the bat, and after a $50 mail-in rebate, in the coming weeks.

Watch the video, gaze at its angles, and read the pros and cons in my full Samsung Gusto 2 review.

'Bulletproof' case for your iPhone

A Japanese firm called Marudai has unveiled a $650 bulletproof case for your iPhone.

It could offer the perfect protection for those planning to recreate the infamous 'iPhone vs gun' videos popular on YouTube, which see amateur marksmen shooting their phones and other gadgets to see what happens to them.

The bulletproof case features an inch thick slab of steel plating the firm claims can resist a .50 caliber round, the Daily Mail reported Sunday.

However, the protection does come at a cost - apart from the high price tag, only the back of your handset is protected - and there's a hole for the camera lens drilled into the metal.

The front of the camera is protected by a thin sheet of aluminum, although the firm has thoughtfully made both white and black versions available, the newspaper added.

The iPhone is first placed into a protective case, then the steel and aluminum case is bolted together around it to secure the handset. The firm also throws in a bonus for purchasers - an empty bullet so you can show friends exactly what you are protected against, the Mail said.

iPhone 5 News And Rumors: What You Need To Know

Well, the iPhone 5 was not released in October, like many fans had hoped. Instead the iPhone 4S was released. Also released have been a plethora of iPhone 5 news and rumors, and a mild amount of actual iPhone 5 news.

Apple has a history of secrecy when it comes to, everything. Generally they do not release any specifics of devices until the device itself is publicly revealed. However, this does not keep sources from speculating and the internet becoming flooded with what people think they saw in regards to the latest product or what they predict in the future for Apple.

iPhone 5 News: Release Date

Apple has always released their newest iPhone in June. This was changed with their previous release, the iPhone 4S, which was made available in October. Apple generally uses the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), often held in June (though the dates vary), to announce its latest products. Reports say this year the conference will be held June 10-15. Many sources have released iPhone 5 rumors claiming that it will be released around the date of the conference.

Apple is also planning to announce the iPad 3 on March 7th. Many reports state to expect the release of the iPhone 5 a few months after the release of the iPad 3.

This is of importance because the iPad and the iPhone generally share similar technology. The iPad 3 is expected to have the newest Apple chip, the A6, and also run on the 4G LTE network.

The A6 is a quad-core chip. The ability of having a quad-core chip will dramatically increase the speeds over that of the previous A5 chip. The processor speed of the iPhone 5 is expected to be between 1.2 and 1.5 GHz and have 1GB of RAM.

Reports have stated that Intel is trying to help pitch its chip to be produced in the newest iPhones. However, Apple has recently spent a large amount of money to produce its own chips in conjunction with Samsung, and sources say they will not move away from this current practice. More iPhone 5 news will be available regarding what network provider they will use in the near future. It will be either the 4g network, or the superior 4g LTE network. It should be expected that the LTE network will be the chosen one, as it is supposedly being built in to the iPad 3.

Apple is always trying to maintain its status as a leader in the smartphone market, which would make us believe that they would not settle for the standard 4G. The iPhone 5 is also expected to contain TDSCDMA network capability, which is the 3G standard in China. The iPhone 4S is a world phone, which allows it to be used on both GSM and CDMA networks. It would be safe to assume that the iPhone 5 will also follow in these footsteps.

iPhone 5 rumors reveal it will be manufactured by LG. However, according to recent reports, it will not be producing the whole phone; rather LG will just be producing the display portion of the phone.

The iPhone 5 in The News: Price Tag Appeal?

People have been wondering what the price point will be for the new iPhone 5, and rumors are stirring. Some have been hoping for a lower price. Apple’s prices have always been right in line with other smartphone devices for the most part. Apple believes that they have no reason to change their current price point.

Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer suggested during a recent interview with CitiGroup, that the company will keep making great products, and if they keep making great products, people will be willing to pay for them.
So, based on previous history, one could reasonably expect the new iPhone to cost around $199 for the basic version, and up to $399 for the fully-loaded model.

Think about it, if you looked out the window of an Apple store when the new iPhones is released and saw a line around the block every time, why would you lower the price? The iPhone 4S sold an incredible one million units on the first day.

More iPhone 5 rumors have been floating around of a version being made available with less memory capacity at a lower price point. This smaller phone had a name tossed around of iPhone Nano (taken from the iPod line). Originally with the phone lacking a removable MicroSD card, a phone with less memory did not seem like a viable option. However, now with iCloud being available to instantly upload data, pics, music, etc. from your phone, the need for a large amount of built-in memory may not be necessary. And, who knows, maybe a removable MicroSD will be available in the new iPhone.

iPhone 5 News: Picturing The iPhone 5 – Camera Technology

The camera on the iPhone 5 will be amazing, if every rumor is true. Even if only a few are true, it will still be a great camera. According to a few sources, Apple has recently filed for patents for a camera with 3D technology.

The camera on the iPhone 4S is 8 megapixels. So it is safe to expect a camera of at least that capacity on the iPhone 5. Some talk has been floating around of a camera up to 13MP; however a camera of this size seems a little unreasonable. I think either way, it’s safe to expect that Apple will not slack in the camera category, no matter what the final product is. In the iPhone 4S, Apple produced many upgrades to create amazing camera quality, and if the new camera is just as good, it will be nice, and if it’s better, well then that will be stunning.

Some recent pictures of what could possibly be the newest version of the iPhone have been showing all over the internet. These pictures supposedly came from a reliable employee in China at the Foxconn plant, which helps in the production of iPhones. This source also stated that there are many samples out floating around in the hands of Apple employees, so expect to see more rumors about the design soon.

iPhone 5 News: Smiling on the Outside – The iPhone 5′s Exterior

From these recently leaked pictures, it appears that the general layout of the buttons will be similar to previous versions of the iPhone, including the home button, volume, lock, silencer, front camera, and receiver. The phone appears to be wider, longer, and slimmer than the iPhone 4S. Reports have stated that the new iPhone will have a screen size of 4″ or larger, possibly up to 4.3″ which is the standard screen size some of the more popular Android phones.
When the iPhone 4S was released, it came with an “intelligent assistant” in its beta version, also known as Siri. Siri quickly became a hit among people looking for cheap entertainment. However, its usefulness among users is still questionable. But what is not questionable is that Apple will come up with a similar improved version on the new iPhone.

Airplay and Airprint, along with many other useful apps that were introduced on the iPhone 4S will most likely be included. Also sure to be included are a few new apps. Once the iPad 3 is released, more news on possible apps should become available.

MasterCard/Paypass capability has been speculated to be built into the phone, which would allow for ease of access to pay at retailers by simply tapping the phone on the payment system.

Some of these iPhone 5 rumors will prove to be true, and some will not. Actual news for the iPhone 5 is still short, as with all Apple products until the device is officially revealed. However, there is some truth to rumors, and with all this speculation about both the software and the hardware of this exciting device, it is sure to entice the interests of smartphone users.
How do you feel about these iPhone 5 news and rumors? What have you heard? What would you like to see? Do you already have plans to purchase the iPhone 5, or are you waiting for more iPhone 5 news to see the actual specs? Or are you sticking with your Android device, or maybe possibly holding out hope for the new Windows Phone 8?

iPhone 6 Rumors And Predictions: Specs, Features, Design…

Although the Apple iPhone 5 is yet to be announced, users over the Web have already started searching for the iPhone 6 features, specifications, and more enthusiastically the design. It’s quite funny to know how obsessed people have become with Apple products, especially with the iPhone and iPad.
With such a huge popularity, Apple doesn’t really have to shell out cash for advertising or marketing their products. Word of mouth alone is enough for Apple to stay ahead of the competition.
I must confess that it has become more like a competition between fans to find information of the
unannounced products. As I was doing my research on this, I found a number of blogs dedicated to the iPhone 6 already, and to my surprise, they are updated quite regularly.
The Apple iPhone 6 is far away from its actual release. With Apple releasing different versions of the iPhone (“S” launches), it’ll definitely take a few more years before Apple announces the iPhone 6.
At this point in time, there is very little information available about the features, specifications and designs of the iPhone 6. We don’t even know if the 6th generation of the iPhone will even be called ‘iPhone 6′ or something else. However, what we know and have analyzed that fans across the Web have a lot of expectations especially with designs.Apple has always been known for its innovative thoughts and ideas they come up with. It’s not just with the products, but also with the applications that their products run. For instance, take a look at Siri. We never know what Siri can do in the iPhone 6. Probably it can understand what a dog is barking about and translate it into human language?
We have already discussed some of the features and specifications that are expected to arrive in the iPhone 5. Although Apple fans were quite disappointed after the release of iPhone 4S, the expectations have grew even more and hopefully they are not disappointed at least this time.
Coming back to the Apple iPhone 6, we have found the best available information for you, but please keep in mind that these are just speculations and expectations of fans, and there’s nothing official about it.

 Apple iPhone 6 Features

 iPhone 6 Design

The design is much talked feature of the Apple iPhone 6 around the Web. Fans are expecting that the iPhone 6 will features a curved screen design. Having said that, the iPhone 6 might look something like the Sony Xperia Arc. The rumor originated when Apple contacted the G-Tech and Fuji Crystal, the lens technology companies, and made a requirement of equipment for polishing curved glass.
This curved design concept is also expected to come in the iPad. It is also said that Apple has purchased 200 to 300 glass cutting machines, specialized in cutting curved glass. The curved glass design was expected to arrive in the iPhone 5, however, looks like that just remained a rumor.
The other thing in terms of design is body of the iPhone 6. Apple has been granted a patent, which indicates that the future iPhone versions will be made from a single piece of metal. The patent tells us that the iPhone body is cut from a single metal piece, which will be much lighter and thinner compared to current and previous iPhones.
The metal body of the iPhone will include an incredible curvy and contemporary design with the sides rounded and with a curved bottom surface. Again, many said that such a design will arrive in the iPhone 5, but that’s just a rumor.
iPhone 6 to have p-Si LCD Screen

p-Si LCD is the next generation display technology developed by Sharp. It stands for PolySilicon Liquid Crystal Display, and has a number of advancements and new features, which is probably expected to feature in the iPhone 6. One of the major advantage of the p-Si LCD screen is the monolithic integration – the driver circuits of the display can be integrated directly into display.
It is also said that the screen is made thinner and lighter while consuming less battery power compared to the current LCD technologies.

iPhone 6 to have a Projector

There are possibilities that the iPhone 6 will feature a built-in projector facility enabling users to project a video or image on a flat surface at a short distance. The detailed patent application reveals how Apple has been working on a Pico-like projector for iOS devices and how these projectors will work with a shared workspace in presentations.

This will include advanced gestures that will be able to interpret shadow and silhouette gesturing associated with presentations in a darkened environment.

Wireless iPhone 6

Apple has been experimenting with the new feature that enables the user to charge the iPhone wirelessly. With the popularity of inductive charging, which uses electromagnetics to wirelessly charge a device, it would definitely come as a surprise to all Apple fans if the iPhone 6 will be capable of doing the same. There are few phones in the market that have already been experimenting with the inductive charging technology.
It is also rumoured that Apple has been working on to charge a device using solar charger.
At the Worldwide Developers Conference in June last year, the most promising feature of the iOS 5 was the capability of receiving updates wirelessly. That way, users will no longer have to connect their iPhone to a computer and use iTunes to transfer data.

Other Features in the iPhone 6

Apart from all these, we expect that the iPhone 6 will include the following features. Although most of them will be present in the iPhone 5, we can expect some advance technologies and updates in them:

Multitasking

In the world of multitasking and quad core processors, Apple will certainly look forward to develop the iPhone 6 in a way to handle multiple tasks efficiently and quickly.

Videos & Photos

I’m sure that the iPhone 6 will feature the world’s best camera with advance technology. With such a huge popularity in the field of photography, I think that the iPhone 6 will completely replace the point and shoot digital cameras. I presume that the 6th generation of the iPhone will have better resolution camera with HD quality video recording.

Organization

It is going to be much easier to organize and access your files and photos in the iPhone 6. Apple will surely work on this to make user experience friendly enough. Perhaps there could be a separate folder for several categories like health, finance, games, and so on.

128 GB Storage Space

In addition to the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, Apple plans to include another version of the iPhone with a storage capacity of 128GB, and will be priced at a considerably higher price tag.

iPhone 6 Release Date
Some people say that the iPhone 5 should be technically called as the iPhone 6, since Apple released the iPhone 4S, which was supposed to be the iPhone 5. Well in that case, if the iPhone 5 is called as the iPhone 6, then we might expect a release sometime during this year. However, launching the next iPhone as iPhone 6 is something which I don’t foresee and this should simply remain a rumor.

Well, no matter when the iPhone 6 will release, it is certainly going to blow everyone’s mind by giving the greatest experience to users with some of the world’s best and outstanding technology. Until then, let the crazy talks about the iPhone 6 continue to boom!
