Lexus has for a long time given us the LS model that was the luxury flagship for the company. The LS always seem to stand out from the crowd and offer amenities and comfort which seemed uncommon for a vehicle coming from Japan. To me the Lexus LS did what is supposed to by standing up against the competition of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. From the 90s to today I’ve been one to take the side of Lexus as though many times they were not the most exciting luxury sedan nor did they offer the most frivolous amenities but they did do their job providing luxury and reliability. The last LS Lexus generation for me was brilliant as it looked the part of a full-size luxury sedan that had wide opening doors and tons of room in the back seat to be chauffeured by the poor sap they got picked to be the designated driver. What’s also an accolade for the Lexus LS sedan is that ranked 99 have 100 on Consumer Reports top picks. With the rating that high it sums it up for me that if I’m in need of a luxury sedan that looks the part I can safely pick out the 2013 Lexus LS and be completely content. The issue that may come around is the fact that Lexus is going with the global grille that seems more aggressive and contemporary by design. We haven’t seen what this Lexus will look like but we have to think that some older and more conservative luxury sedan buyers will be turned off by the overall looks. I however like the overall design that Lexus is putting out for 2013 but I also like the looks of it new GS which has turned some older buyers off.
As for this 2013 Lexus LS we should see if sharing similar powertrains as
the new Toyota Avalon is the two are similar yet for the love of God I hope
Lexus is not that ugly ass grill the Toyota has on the Avalon. I’m sure we will
see a high output the V6 engine using direct injection will produce around 300
hp connected to a seven or eight speed automatic transmission with the option
of all-wheel-drive. We should also see a hybrid version as well an updated 4.6
L V-8 will be producing around 400 hp. This is simply speculation as Lexus is
keeping their engineers on double secret probation. Will we do expect is to see
a weight loss from the 2012 version of around 200 pounds. This should shave
down the 0 to 60 time to around 5 seconds which would make this one fast
flagship.
I can only imagine the sense of punching it in his luxury yacht yet passing
the riced out Honda Civic and watching the driver build up crocodile tears.
Hopefully we’ll get to test drive this 2013 Lexus LS soon and hopefully the V-8
version. If you have any information you’d like to share with the rest of the
class then feel free to write to us in the comment section below.
