Cadillac is trying to set the new standard for luxury something, something,
something. The problem is that Cadillac has to play nice and share its parts
with other General Motors vehicles. Luckily GM is working to develop some pretty
good parts to be placed in their CTS model. The CTS started out as Cadillac’s
entry level vehicle in order to get the bad taste of the Catera out. The result
of the CTS was a new contemporary design that looked the part and would be
different enough yet make sense and attraction from the individuals who would
start coming back to Cadillac. Over the years the CTS-V would be a sought after
vehicle for enthusiasts of the delivered V-8 power to the rear wheels like a
sport luxury car should. The last generation Cadillac CTS-V was
completely bonkers and everything I hoped to be placed into the V-series and
though I may give Cadillac a lot of grief I do start a slow round of applause
for the impressive CTS-V.
Today the problem exists that Cadillac is trying to conform models to the BMW
lineup as well as Mercedes and Audi. The only reason I call this a problem is
that these European companies have worked hard to study and improve upon each
other’s designs so much that they have morphed into very similar vehicles. These
vehicles are great but cost far too much and it will be hard for Cadillac to
gain the recognition similar to these companies and could just shoot itself in
the foot by trying to conform instead of being unique. A case in point is the
new upcoming 2014 Cadillac CTS there will be a larger alpha platform and work to
compete in price and performance with its sights set on the BMW 5-series as well
as the Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6.
This means the CTS will more likely start
off around $40,000 and offer a 300+ hp six-cylinder engine for starters. Word is
that General Motors is working on a Turbo or supercharged six-cylinder in order
to produce around 400 hp and connected to the company’s eight-speed automatic
transmission. Also likely see an eco-version CTS throwing out some impressive
highway mileage ratings.
With the similar design cues from Cadillac’s other vehicles that are in its
lineup such as the new Cadillac XTS, expect to see a CTS it will look just like
every other Cadillac therefore creating the whole companies look to grow old in
about four or five years time. Either Way, Cadillac CTS should be a staple for
the company as it will provide mid-level power, efficiency, and the magnetic
suspension dampening setup. If there’s anything that you feel Cadillac is
needing to do with the CTS then write to us in the comment section located
